Learning a range of practical knots and using them to build woodland shelters
Service Description
In this session, we’ll be learning a range of practical knots and using them to build woodland shelters. We’ll begin with a gentle grounding activity to help us settle into the space. There will be time for exploration and play before we move into knot-tying practice, learning a selection of useful knots that can be applied in a variety of outdoor settings. We’ll use our new skills to work together to construct shelters using tarpaulins and rope. Once built, these spaces will become places for rest, reflection and creative storytelling inspired by the woodland around us. At the end of the session, people are free to stay and have lunch together. By the end of the session, you will have: - Learned a range of practical knot-tying techniques - Worked collaboratively to build a functional woodland shelter - Developed confidence in using basic bushcraft skills - Reflected on connection to nature through creativity and shared experience What to bring: Weather can be unpredictable at this time of year, so please come dressed for all conditions with: - Waterproof layers - Sturdy footwear - Warm layers - Sun protection if needed - Hat Refreshments are provided, but please bring: - A packed lunch - A refillable water bottle - Flask of tea/coffee if so wished There is a toaster, kettle, and microwave available on site. Getting here: The site can be accessed on foot, by bike or by car.
